At Gates Chili Middle School, we believe that student success goes beyond academics. Our counseling department leads a comprehensive social-emotional learning (SEL) program that empowers students to develop self-awareness, build healthy relationships, and make responsible decisions—all while aligning with the Spartan Way.
Throughout the school year, counselors deliver grade-level classroom lessons on topics such as:
Once a month on Spartan Pride Fridays, our entire school community participates in “Upstander” activities that promote positive character and behaviors. Coordinated by the counseling team in collaboration with teachers and staff, these sessions help students reflect on what it means to be their “best self” by showing respect, compassion, responsibility and hard work—the Spartan Way.
Creating a safe, inclusive learning environment is a priority at GCMS. Our team uses a restorative approach to address concerns and support students in resolving conflict. We recognize the difference between conflict and bullying and take all reports seriously.
If you believe peer conflict or bullying is occurring, please contact your student's school counselor or grade-level assistant principal. Together, we can ensure every student feels seen, valued and supported.
